8 Little Luxuries You Can Enjoy Every Day
The pandemic has certainly derailed many plans and big moments. Personally, I missed out on a trip to Tokyo to attend the Olympics (which I’d been planning for 4 years), a trip to Paris, festivals, weddings, and more. But while these big moments can bring us many feelings of joy and pleasure, there is still joy to be had in the smaller moments every day.
Of course, seeing the many hopes and dreams we all had dashed for the last year hasn’t been fun, but joy is not lost. Joy does come from the vacations and once-in-a-lifetime events, but there is joy to be found in every day.
I used to be one to save things for special occasions, but one day I realized, you never know what tomorrow will bring. So why not enjoy them every day? Here are eight ideas for little luxuries you can enjoy every day.
Wear lipstick. Yep, even under your mask or at home.
Wear your favorite perfume. You don’t have to save the good stuff for special occasions.
Get dressed up in the house. For most of the last year I pretty much only went out for groceries and takeout, so where else was I supposed to wear my nice clothes? I enjoy being comfortable in the house, but sometimes getting dressed up adds a special touch.
Use real dishes and drink from real cups. Paper plates are convenient and we are all beyond tired of doing dishes, but using real dishes tricks the mind (or at least my mind) into making the food taste better. I may or may not be known to heat up a frozen microwave meal and plate it with garnish and all.
Eat dessert. No one will ever convince me that a square of dark chocolate is a satisfying dessert, but if you feel that way go for it. Me? I’ll have the cake.
Drink your expensive coffee/tea or wine. Harney & Sons has a great selection and their Hot Cinnamon Sunset tea tastes so indulgent.
Light your favorite candle or diffuse essential oils. Have you tried Capri Blue’s Volcano candle (or a dupe)? You will never want to be without it once you have.
Indulge in a fancy snack. I’m partial to a mini cheese or snack plate with Trader Joe’s goodies like marcona almonds and cheese straws.
